Diagnostic Testing

Ford IDS

We use Ford's own Integrated Diagnostics System (IDS) to diagnose your cars fault(s)This is exactly the same system used by the main dealers, and is key to troubleshooting today's computer infested vehicles.

Using IDS we can diagnose any fault that your car has recorded onto its PCM (Powertrain Control Module) These are known as Diagnostic Trouble Codes or DTC's and this points us in the direction of the problem and suggests possible causes of the condition described.

The IDS System can also pinpoint electrical wiring faults using the VMM (Vehicle Multi Meter) this guides the mechanic towards the fault by asking them to probe certain points in the wiring system, and getting a reading. Whilst this can be very time consuming it removes guess work from the process, and may turn up other faults whilst the diagnostics are underway.

This system can troubleshoot all aspects of your vehicle, and it will even update your vehicles software with the latest calibrations available if necessary, this is useful in preventing possible faults caused by software errors that may have been resolved in later revisions of your vehicle.

Our IDS system is kept up to the minute with constant updates from Ford Motorcraft. Which allows the ability to troubleshoot even the very latest vehicles released by Ford.

We can also diagnose most makes and models of vehicle using our other diagnostic fault code reading systems.

We have Snap-on diagnostic equipment at our disposal. This equipment is used the world over to help mechanics pinpoint the trouble in your vehicle. As Snap-On are known, in the world of tools, as the best.

We also use an Advanced Diagnostics AD100, who are also well known in the industry to provide reliable fault finding solutions, and in our case a handy second opinion, should we need it.
